Varennes Distribution Centre: Illegal work slowdowns cause delivery delays

Because of their impact, METRO deplores the illegal work slowdowns that have taken place in the last ten days at the Varennes distribution centre that supplies PJC Jean Coutu pharmacies. These slowdowns are part of the union's negotiating strategy of the PJC Warehouse Workers Union (STTPJC-CSN) for the renewal of the collective agreement.
Although the situation has now returned to normal, these work slowdowns have caused delivery delays at several branches of the PJC Jean Coutu network in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick. These slowdowns are illegal and can unfortunately have serious consequences for clients who need to obtain the medications they require.
No solution has ever emerged from illegal pressure tactics.
In the event of a labour dispute, we have a contingency plan to ensure continuity of supply to our pharmacists owners.
We have demonstrated our openness to finding solutions at the bargaining table and remain committed to negotiating a fair and equitable agreement that takes into account the needs of our employees, as well as those of our pharmacists owners and customers, while ensuring that the Jean Coutu Group remains efficient in an increasingly competitive market, without labour dispute.
